I wrote this a long time ago just as South Africa was entering the post-Apartheid era and Mandela euphoria was sweeping the country. Despite the joy of the New South Africa and the hope for the future, the spectre of land inequality was lurking in the background - and still is.
Life-Blood - Earth-Blood looks at the land-redistribution issue mainly through the eyes of the children of white farmers and black labourers, the former trying desperately to hold on to their land while their black labourers become increasingly embittered that the ANC government has not delivered on its promises.
It is a tragic novel in many ways but is filled with hope for a wonderful country. It's the novel I've put more of my passion and soul into - if that doesn't sound too twee, but it's true - than all of my other books together. It's my third precious child that I've moulded and reworked over the past 15 years. You can buy the book online, either as a PDF download or a normal printed copy. Here you can see the back cover
